Metro is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural Metro Pride Awards, an extraordinary event dedicated to honouring and celebrating the exceptional talent, resilience, and passion that defines the LGBTQ+ community.
This landmark event on February 26, 2025, during LGBT+ History Month, will gather some of the most influential and inspiring LGBTQ+ individuals and organisations in a star-studded celebration in London.
The Metro Pride Awards will recognise LGBTQ+ trailblazers in the public eye who have achieved greatness across various fields, including entertainment, activism, and entrepreneurial success.
The awards will also spotlight brands and organisations that have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and LGBTQ+ rights within their sectors.
“The Metro Pride Awards is a defining moment for us,” said Richard Hartley-Parkinson, Executive Editor of Metro.
“We are excited to celebrate those who have made significant contributions not just to the LGBTQ+ community but to society as a whole. By partnering on this event, we are reinforcing our commitment to amplifying diverse voices and shining a light on the remarkable achievements of individuals who inspire us all.”
The public is invited to participate in the Metro Pride Awards by nominating their favourite LGBTQ+ heroes across a variety of categories. Nominations are now open and can be submitted at www.metroprideawards.com, where you can find further details about the categories and the nomination process.
Nominations are open until Friday 1st November and the shortlist will be announced later in the month.
The winners will be decided through a mix of public votes and judging process.
Metro has shown a longstanding commitment to highlighting important issues, and engaging readers who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. The newspaper featured an LGBT+ masthead during Pride Month in June 2021. This move was part of a broader initiative to celebrate LGBTQ+ visibility and representation, aligning with the publication’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
